The web portfolio of Kim McGillivray, illustrator. |
||
Biography: Kim McGillivray has been illustrating professionally since 1993- serving publishers, designers and advertisers throughout the world.
Kim's images have complemented the work of Muriel Spark, Peter Carey, Gil Scott-Heron, Iain Banks and even the first newspaper publication of Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting.
Techniques: Kim's work is an on-going investigation of mixed media image-making. His illustrations combine elements of photography with digital, painted and collage techniques. He is happy to create original photography or to handle researched / supplied imagery.
Publishing: Kim has dreamt of designing book covers since art college. He has now supplied illustrations to most major publishers in the UK & US- as well as others in Canada, China, Finland, Germany, The Netherlands and Norway. All that experience, means that Kim can absorb a text and translate it effectively into an arresting and relevant cover. That now includes designs for biography, history, youth fiction, literary fiction and poetry.
Editorial: Kim has created covers and feature illustrations for many national newspapers and magazines. He's also been a weekly contributor to several prominent newspapers- either devising and illustrating his own topical satire or in partnership with top columnists.
Exposure: Kim is represented by agents in New York, London and Amsterdam- artwork can be sent anywhere, nowadays, by web download. Kim's work has also appeared in many trade directories including American Showcase, The Workbook, Black Book and Contact.
Kim still belives in the benefits of meeting, personally, with his portfolios to discuss ideas. So, you're welcome to enquire about an appointment or any other issue.
